COLD & WET: Another Chance of Rain/Snow

A few remaining rain showers will continue south of a line from Carroll to Ames to Marshalltown. Some light snow will occur north of that line. Snow may accumulate up to 1 in grassy areas in the northern half of the state. Most locations will see less than an inch, as the snow is melting as it falls due to warmer air temperatures at the surface and warm ground temperatures. Winds will be strong throughout the day. Highs today will reach the lower to middle 40s. Tonight will be partly cloudy and very cold with lows in the 20s.

Tomorrow another system will bring a rain/snow mix to central Iowa, but less of it as it appears to be weakening. Spots like Carroll and Fort Dodge may see an additional couple tenths of an inch of snow during the morning. The remainder of the state will stay primarily rain. Wednesday will be very similar to today with highs in the mid 40s and windy conditions.

The end of the week and weekend will be dry and slightly warmer with temperatures in the 50s.
