Drake University welcomed a delegation from Iowa’s sister state Hebei province in China Tuesday morning.

The delegation posed with hosts on the steps of Old Main at Drake. Later the hosts and the Chinese visitors exchanged gifts.

Drake’s relationship with Hebei province started more than 25 years ago. Since then, the university has sent more than 100 graduates to Hebei as part of the Teach in China program.

This is the largest Heibei delegation to visit Drake in the history of the relationship.

“Drake’s collaboration with Hebei, the schools in Hebei, the government of Hebei over the last 25 years has provided our students and faculty many professional development and personal development opportunities. So we’re excited to welcome the Party Secretary, his delegation, and celebrate that relationship,” says Kirk Martin, Drake Chinese Cultural Exchange.”

While at Drake an agreement will be signed between Drake and the foreign language school in Hebei to promote recruitment of their students to Drake.
