This is an archived article and the information in the article may be outdated. Please look at the time stamp on the story to see when it was last updated.

Skies will be partly cloudy tonight as temperatures dip below freezing by early Wednesday morning. Des Moines will drop to the upper 20s early Wednesday morning. A Freeze Warning goes into effect at 3 AM until 8 AM. Cover or bring in your plants that can't handle freezing conditions.

Another weak disturbance will drop south from the Dakotas on Wednesday. The timing should be that there may be some light snow associated with the area of precipitation in far Northwest Iowa. But as it moves into Central and Southwest Iowa, temperatures will go above freezing and will fall primarily as light rain. Rainfall totals looks to stay less than a tenth of an inch.

The remainder of the week will be dry and chilly. Highs will gradually return to the 50s over the weekend.
