The Marshalltown man accused of first degree murder has pleaded not guilty.

Thirty-year-old Jeremy Gartin is charged in the shooting death of 59-year-old David Warnell of Garwin. Authorities found Garwin’s body in the basement of a Marshalltown home earlier this month.

A second man is charged in the case. Fifty-five-year-old Max Nelson Jr. has also pleaded not guilty.

He’s charged with accessory after the fact and abuse of a corpse.

Both men are scheduled to go to trial December 10th.
