A new piece of art will soon light up the evening sky in downtown Des Moines.

A mural called Expansion now sits along the Principal Riverwalk near Court Avenue and Water Street.

It was created by the same artist who designed the dangos sculptures at The Hub coffee shop.

The hand blown glass mural is made up of seven narrow panels. Each consists of horizontal bands of red, yellow, blue, white and black. It’s eliminated by a network of LED lights.

A dedication and lighting will be held Monday at 5:30 p.m.
