PINK OUT: School Honors Cancer Survivor
It was a pink out for breast cancer awareness at a Des Moines elementary school Thursday.
More than 200 kids wore pink at King Elementary. A drawing between the seven classes that had 100-percent participation went to Ms. Spreitzer’s second grade class who got a popsicle party.
The pink out was held in honor of the chief custodian’s wife, Linda Nelson.
Nelson is a 30-year survivor of breast cancer.
“The kids are so tickled they ask questions all the time,” Nelson says. “They ask my husband when I’m coming in. They double check how I’m doing. I couldn’t ask for a better team.”
This is the second year for the pink out.
