HAZELBAKER CASE: Father To Learn Prison Sentence
An Ankeny father will be sentenced Thursday for fatally shooting his daughter.
Scott Hazelbaker pleaded guilty to one charge of involuntary manslaughter last month. He says he thought the safety was on when he pointed a gun at his daughter, Emily. Hazelbaker says he loved his daughter and never meant to hurt her.
He faces up to five years in prison during his sentencing.
Hazelbaker’s attorney says his client has no criminal past and will ask for probation.
