Halloween can be a scary time to be on the roads, so Ames police are cracking down.

They are calling it an aggressive Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement effort.

Officers ask people taking part in Halloween festivities, to have a plan to get home safely, always designate a sober driver, take a cab or bus, or call someone for a ride home. They also say, don’t be afraid to take the keys from someone who is too impaired to drive.

Ames police say if you’re walking home, have a sober friend walk with you.
