The Governor’s STEM Advisory Council has announced the recipients of four $50,000 awards, and among them is a Des Moines school.

Hoover High School, the Davenport Community School District, Mount Pleasant Middle School and Sioux Center High School are receiving the awards. They are matched by the district and will be used to implement a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics classroom in their schools.

The recipients were chosen from a group of 23 applicants.

Initially, only three schools were to be funded, but with additional contributions a fourth school was added.
