Iowa native and Emmy-award winning actress Marcia Wallace died Oct. 25, 2013.  She was 70-years-old.

Wallace was best known as the voice of Edna Krabappel, Bart’s fourth grade teacher on the iconic TV series, The Simpsons and for her role on the Bob Newhart Show.

The Simpsons paid tribute to the loss of the beloved cast member on Sunday night’s episode.

USA Today reported that Simpsons executive producer, Al Jeans said the show intends to retire her irreplaceable character.

Wallace will be remembered for her decades of work as a comedian and an actress.
