Des Moines police are investigating the death of a man found outside, but say his death was likely accidental.

Police say someone spotted a man’s body outside between two buildings in the 600 block of 18th Street around 10 Monday morning. Police discovered the body lying on the ground near the home at 683 18th Street.

“Our crime scene will work several hours I’m sure gathering evidence taking photos and video. At that point they`ll closely examine the body and just go from there with whatever they find,” Sgt. Steve Woody says.

A cause of death has yet to be determined but authorities say they don’t expect foul play.

Police will release the man’s name once family members have been notified of his death.
