The Department of Public Health says three strains of the flu are in Iowa.

They include H1N1, H3N2 and Influenza B.

Officials say three strains mean Iowans could get sick with the flu three different times.

Experts say the current flu vaccine covers all three strains that are being seen in Iowa. Authorities encourage you to get the shot now to prevent the spread of the flu.

While the flu activity is still relatively low, it’s expected to ramp up in the months ahead.
