A memorial service was held Tuesday for a Tama County woman killed in an explosion last week.

Seventy-two-year-old Mary Appelgate of Gladbrook died last Thursday. Officials say she was inside when a gas explosion leveled her home.

Authorities are still piecing together what caused the gas explosion. Officials are hoping 29-year-old Daniel Dewitt can help in the investigation. He’s the heating and cooling repairman who was at the home during the blast.

Dewitt is currently being treated at the University of Iowa burn unit.
