The city of Ames now has a new link to the past.

The Ames History Center is opening at Douglas and Fifth downtown. The Ames Historical Society now owns the building.

It keeps archives of past Ames Tribune newspapers along with other collections at the center. Volunteers have been busy remodeling the space to make it easy for people to find information they may be looking for.

An open house is being held Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a ribbon cutting at 3:00.
