One of Iowa’s old drive-in movie theaters will go through a costly upgrade.

Employees at the Valle Drive-In in Newton say they have ordered a new digital projector.

The news comes after movie distributors announced over the summer they would stop providing 35-millimeter film reels.

The Valle Drive-In is closed for the season but the new projector will be up and running for next year.

The drive-in opened in 1949. There are only four remaining drive-ins theaters in Iowa.
