The season for ice skating in downtown Des Moines is almost here and people will be able to lace up their skates a little earlier than normal this year.
Brenton Skating Plaza is set to kick off its season November 14th. Officials say the cool fall is allowing them to open the rink about a week earlier than normal.
Those attending the opening night of the rink are being encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the Annual Food Drive, which benefits the City of Des Moines Housing Fund.
Brenton Plaza is the only outdoor skating rink in Des Moines and is located along the Principal Riverwalk, at 520 Robert D Ray Drive.
The skating rink opens at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 14th and admission and skate rental for that night only is $5.
