Iowans and others across the nation have logged on to help an Ames video claim a top spot in a national competition.

The group found out Friday its video won third place in the Pink Gloves Dance contest. The honor earns them a $5,000 prize that will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

Groups from across the nation entered the dance contest.

The Ames video featuring Mary Greely Medical Center, the McFarland Clinic and Iowa State University, garnered 32,825 votes.

The video raises awareness about breast cancer but it also showcases Gretchen Zitterich who is battling breast cancer. She is known for being upbeat and positive.

Zitterich just finished surgery and chemotherapy and doctors say her prognosis is good.
