Waterloo police are investigating two shootings just hours apart that may be connected.

KWWL reports the first shooting happened just after 7:00 Thursday night. Authorities say 18-year-old Daequan Campbell was shot in the chest and hip and died from his injuries.

The second shooting was reported shortly after midnight at another home across town. KWWL has learned the owner of the home is a relative of Campbell’s.

Officers found several bullets holes in the back door and in the kitchen window. No one was hurt.

Police continue to investigate both shootings.
