Black lights and butterflies are coming together in an unusual combination this Thursday at Iowa State University.

To demonstrate the science behind butterfly patterns, Reiman Gardens’ butterfly curator Nathan Brockman will be presenting a black light butterfly show.

The presentation will show how the fluorescent lights expose butterfly patterns, how they clump together and how they begin roosting for the night.

The black light butterfly show will run from 4:30 until 5:30 p.m. at Reiman Gardens on Thursday.  Tickets are $8 for members or $12 for the general public.
