Hope Ministries in Des Moines is looking for donations in order to provide their annual Thanksgiving meal.

This year, the organization will deliver 1,900 meals to needy families, while hosting another 400 people at the Bethel Mission.

That's 200 more meals than they served last year.

Items needed include gravy and stuffing mix, milk and frozen juice, and brownies.

"We know it's a hard life out there for some of our meal guests. We just provide love, support, and encouragement when they come in. People come in here to get more than food,” said Merry Cunningham with Hope Ministries.

Volunteers will be collecting donations at the Bethel Mission on Wednesday from 9 AM to 3 PM.

It's located on 6th Avenue in Des Moines.
