Iowa law enforcement officers are gearing up for a busy travel holiday.

Agencies around the state are adding extra patrols for Thanksgiving, starting Monday. Seatbelt enforcement is the top priority for the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau.

Nine people died in traffic accidents during the week of Thanksgiving last year. Six of those people were not wearing a seatbelt.

The enforcement project runs through December 1st.
