COUNCIL SEAT: Four Finalists Announced

The list of candidates to fill a vacant seat on the Des Moines City Council is down to four.

Eleven-people submitted applications to be considered for the Ward 4 position and four were selected to take part in in-person interviews.

Jo Corigliano, Rebecca Morelock, Vince Scavo and Carl Voss will be interviewed next Wednesday.

The selected candidate is expected to be appointed on December 9.

The appointee will replace Brian Meyer who resigned after being elected to the State House.

An election to find a permanent replacement on the council will be held in March.

electionNext week voters on the northwest side of Des Moines will go back to the polls to pick their next city councilman.

No contender won a majority of votes in the November 5th election.

Now the top two candidates, Bill Gray and Sean Bagniewski, will square off in a runoff election Tuesday,  December 3.
