An Oelwein teen is behind bars, accused of killing four kittens by wringing their necks at a relative’s house.

According to the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier, 19-year-old Sterling Medina was arrested on four counts of misdemeanor animal abuse.

The Bremer County Sheriff’s Office says Medina was seen wringing the kittens’ necks and then throwing the bodies against a garage wall.

Medina is being held in the Bremer County Jail on a $4,000 bond.

I HOPE someone sees this young man has some serious issues and he is dealt with properly. Fines or time behind bars won’t FIX the rage in this person. Probably, one day we will read about how his defense is begging that he not be held accountable for the murder of a child or another human being and will remind us all that he had issues at 19 that the state SHOULD HAVE recognized when he was 19 and killed four kittens.

Ugly, disgusting greasy-haired punk. I’d love to be in a room with this hideous fool for 5 minutes; He’d never be killing kittens again.

Todd, a misdemeanor is correct. In Iowa (the state ranks at bottom of US Humane Society’s list of those with tough anti-cruelty/torture laws) one can maim, hideously torture and/or kill as many innocent animals (including family pets) as they like with little to no repercussions at all. Iowa’s [basically non-existent] anti-cruelty/torture laws are an embarrassment to the entire nation. They “have” been for years. Jam-packed courtrooms — after listening to gut-wrenching witness testimony in other horrific cases — have erupted in tears after seeing yet another wrist lightly slapped.

Yes, many of us have written our legislators. It’s simply not a priority to them. Meanwhile, judges are forced to explain their inability to punish these criminals by coming up with reasoning such as “It’s not as if this dog/cat was a fancy show animal.” Nope. Just an innocent pup or kitten or gray-muzzled elderly dog whose owner happened to live in Iowa.

And how many of the abusive adults… people who have been found guilty of child abuse, murder and other crimes have a history of cruelty to animals. Bet there are many. Iowa is so far behind the times. Makes me sick to claim this as my home state. Iowa, a state with NO compassion, with NO Children’s rights, NO laws to protect innocent domestic animals. A state where legislative leaders have no real priorities and pass the buck … Even the Governor of Iowa is too busy to take care of business.

Give me 5 MINUTES & a LOCKED room with this creep. I’ll show him a WHOLE NEW MEANING of the words INCREDIBLE PAIN!
