Normally the Shoes That Fit program provides new shoes and clothing to children in need. But on Thanksgiving they teamed up with Disney On Ice to give 25 of those kids a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The kids got one-on-one instruction from Disney on ice cast members at the wells Fargo arena.

The Thanksgiving skating party also had a surprise visit from Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

For many first time skaters, the first few steps were slippery.

But by the end of it all the kids left with new skating skills and a few new friends.

Shoes That Fit organizer Bob Montgomery said, “The skaters with Disney On Ice were just fabulous with the kids."

"It wasn't just that they helped them skate, I mean they had conversations with the kids. So they really engaged with them," he said.

All the families have the chance to go back to Wells Fargo Arena and see the Disney cast again tonight. They were given free tickets to Disney on Ice’s Passport To Adventure.
