Volunteers at Chuck’s Restaurant worried about the future of on-site Thanksgiving meal donations after the passing of the restaurant’s owner last month.
Thursday proved they had nothing to worry about — this year.
The Parks Community Thanksgiving Program served 3,500 meals from Chuck’s kitchen. That’s more than they have served in recent years.
The ownership of Chuck’s is still up in the air but volunteers with the program are hopeful their service will continue in the future.
“This meal will continue indefinitely with or without Chuck’s participation, we assume that next year will be back here doing it,” says Bob Iverson, chef with Parks Community Thanksgiving.
It takes almost two weeks and 300 voluntteers to prepare for the Thanksgiving feast.
