Officials are still trying to understand what caused a collision between a car and a semi on Friday.
The crash happened just after 3:30 p.m. in Marshall County when 37-year-old William Baumeier from Liscomb was driving west on 160th Street, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
When Baumeier crossed the center line, he crashed into a semi. Baumeier died at the scene, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
Officials said he was not wearing his seatbelt at the time.
Paramedics took the semi driver, 48-year-old Michael Peavey, to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
