An Iowa man was injured Saturday while hunting with a friend in Linn County.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says 37-year-old Eric Harms of Marion was hit by pellets from a shotgun. Harms and 29-year-old Adam Bigley of Cedar Rapids were pheasant hunting at the Wakpicada Natural Area, south of Central City, when the incident happened.

The DNR says both men shot at birds that had been flushed out of the undergrowth between them. Harms was hit in the calf by two pellets discharged from Bigley’s gun.

Harms was treated and released from Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.
