VETERANS JOBS: Home Base Iowa Details
Tuesday Gov. Terry Branstad announced some new components of an effort to get veterans back to work in Iowa.
The Home Base Iowa project was first announced in November. It is designed to match up veterans with open jobs in the state.
Branstad says inquiries about the program have already been made by veterans across the country interested in moving to Iowa.
Tuesday Branstad released information about the Home Base Iowa Businesses and Communities program. He outlined guidelines for businesses and communities to receive the designation.
For businesses it includes pledging to hire a specific number of veterans and posting open jobs on the Home Base Iowa website. For communities, one of the guidelines is having 10% of its businesses qualify to be a Home Base Iowa Business.
“We want veterans to know that Iowa can provide them with not just a job, but a career in a caring, welcoming community,” says Branstad.
