Wind chills are starting dangerous with lows of -15 during the morning commute.

Highs will stay in the teens with wind chills near the 0-degree mark in the afternoon.

Temperatures are going to remain very cold through the weekend with highs in the teens.

By Sunday a good chance for snow will return to the state. While the snow will generally be light in intensity, it may last from very early Sunday into early Monday. Combining the length of snowfall with the very cold temperatures, light and fluffy snow will occur, allowing for several inches of accumulation in central Iowa.

A fairly widespread blanket of snow around 3" can be expected, including in Des Moines.
