The city of Johnston is getting into the holiday spirit a little early this year.

The annual Johnston holiday bash is this Saturday at the library.  The party will kick off with Santa but will include the Johnston High School Madrigal Singers and the Summit flute and clarinet choir.

Along with crafts and games, party-goers can also decorate Christmas cookies or join in the gingerbread house contest.  The party will wrap up with the official lighting of the tree in Johnston Commons.

Visitors to the Holidays in Johnston celebration are strongly encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item with them to the event.  The Johnston Food Pantry needs canned tuna in water, canned chicken in water, peanut butter and brown rice.  A full list of needed items is available from the food pantry and on the city of Johnston’s website.

The city’s annual holiday celebration will be held at the Johnston Public Library Dec. 7 from 2:30 until 4:30 p.m.
