Gov. Terry Branstad showed off a new effort to get Iowans interested in new technology at his weekly news conference Monday.
It’s part of his STEM outreach. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
“We truly believe that greatness stems from Iowans and we hope you’ll join our efforts to spread this important message,” said Branstad.
Branstad unveiled a new STEM logo. He hopes it will catch Iowans’ attention and convince more students to study STEM subjects.
He also watched some Greenwood Elementary third graders demonstrate some of the projects they’re developing thanks to STEM training.
The STEM public outreach will include public service announcements and costs about $150,000.
