Millions of dollars worth of unclaimed valuables at the state treasurer’s office are up for grabs.
Starting Tuesday, the state is auctioning 38 of those treasures on eBay.
Items include old jewelry, coins, and paper currency. Items unclaimed the longest will be auctioned off first.
State Treasurer Michael Fitzgerald says he hopes to return money made from the auction to its rightful owners.
“People are surprised to hear that we’re holding over $250 million dollars of Iowan’s money. All they have to do is claim it. We want to find those people. We have over one million names on our list,” said Fitzgerald.
