AGRIBUSINESS: Tyson Adding Cattle Welfare Requirements
The Tyson beef supply chain manager announced new animal treatment requirements at the annual convention of the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association.
He announced that the company will start requiring beef and chicken suppliers to meet on-farm requirements for animal treatment next year.
A third-party auditor will visit farms to ensure compliance, assessing how workers handle animals, whether animals have access to adequate food and water and whether animal treatment is humane.
These animal treatment requirements are already in place for Tyson’s hog producers.
