The Grand Avenue Bridge is open for the first commute home since March 25.
As of 4 p.m. Thursday the bridge has three lanes open to traffic. The other two lanes will re-open before the end of the year.
City officials told Channel 13 earlier this week the bridge was expected to open Saturday. However, the contractor finished early and wanted to open the road to prevent paying any more penalty fines for the delayed opening.
Jenco Construction has been fined $5,000 for every day of delay since a September deadline was missed.
