CAKES FOR CHILDREN: Icing Smiles Recipes

Icing Smiles bakes cakes for critically ill children and their siblings. Hobbyist bakers and professional bakers alike can both volunteer to take part and bake for the organization. Cherry Bars

  • 1 cup or 2 sticks of butter
  • 1 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 3 cups of flour
  • dash of salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Mix all together. Pat 3/4ths of mixture in 11x15 pan or jelly roll pan. Then add fruit of choice on top of mixture and dot remaining mixture on top of the fruit.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

Drizzle with frosting.


Sour Cream Sugar Cookies

  • 1/2 cup or 1 stick butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 3/4 cup of flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Mix all together. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes.
