AMES - The game lived up to the hype.  For just the 2nd time ever Iowa and Iowa State met on the court with both teams ranked in the Top 25.  Plenty of hype, and well worth the wait.

17th ranked Iowa State trailed for most of the game but came up big when it mattered most.  Georges Niang scored a layup with 18 seconds left to give the Cyclones an 83-82 lead.  Iowa had a chance to retake the lead but Mike Gesell missed 2 free throws on the ensuing possession.  ISU added 2 more freebies, Zach McCabe missed a three pointer to tie and ISU hangs on for an 85-82 win.

Iowa State is now 8-0, Iowa falls to 10-2.

Niang led the Cyclones with 24 points, Melvin Ejim added 22.

Aaron White was huge for Iowa scoring 25 points and grabbing 17 rebounds.  Devyn Marble chipped in 19.

Both teams now have 9 days off before their next game.  Iowa plays Arkansas-Pine Bluff Sunday Dec. 22.  The Cyclones take on George Mason on the 22nd in Hawaii.
