This weekend, volunteers at Walnut Creek Church are hoping to spread a little Christmas cheer by passing out Christmas cards.

Each card has a hand written blessing, a few pieces of scripture and a gift card to a local restaurant. Everyone appreciates the free food, but volunteers said it's not the gift itself that strangers remember most.

“It's other people caring about someone else other than themselves is what to me is what makes the world go round," said Ronney McCauley.

Volunteers are handing out more than 250 cards around the metro to anyone they see outside that could use a warm meal and a little Christmas spirit.

Over the past few months they have collected cards and donations to purchase the gift cards. Volunteers said these cards let people know that someone out there cares.
