THE INSIDERS: Crawford And Gross Part Three
Iowa Governor Terry Branstad expanded Medicaid for some of the state’s poorest people.
Republican Doug Gross said the new measure was a big step in the right direction. He added that because of the recent changes, it allows people to take responsibility for the care they receive while pushing them to regain independence from the program. Gross added that the recent choice to shut down the Iowa Juvenile Home in Toledo was the right one.
Democrat and Des Moines Attorney Jerry Crawford said he thought the governor’s move to expand Medicaid was the right choice, paying off in the long run. Crawford said he thought that in the Toledo juvenile home situation, no one won. But it was a decision the governor had to make.
