A northwest Iowa woman convicted of killing her infant daughter more than a decade ago is out of prison.

Heidi Watkins was convicted in 2000 of multiple counts of child endangerment.

Prosecutors say Watkins’ repeated abuse of her two-year old daughter lead to her death. She was sentenced to 50 years in prison.

But Watkins was granted parole after serving 13 years of the sentence. Monday morning she was released from the Mitchellville women’s prison.

She will remain on supervised parole until 2022.
