The Iowa Wild held their first teddy bear toss last Sunday.

Fans who attended the game against the Rockford IceHogs brought teddy bears. After the first goal, the bears got tossed onto the ice.

They were all collected and on Tuesday the players took them to children at Mercy’s main campus downtown.

The hockey players opened the bags and watched the kids dig in.

“The kids are the best even in this situation,” Wild player Warren Peters said. “In general, doing things for children and seeing them look up to you and how they respect you, the smile they get on their face when you take a few minutes out of your day – it goes a long ways.”

The hockey players also signed autographs for the Children.
