BUSY YEAR: Iowa Red Cross Responds To 440 Disasters

The Iowa chapter of the Red Cross is wrapping up another busy, successful year of helping those in need around the state and around the world.

Local leaders say its 1,500 Iowa volunteers responded to 440 disasters this year including 422 house fires.

On those calls they provided food and shelter to more than 1,700 Iowans.

Iowa volunteers also responded in Oklahoma after the Moore tornado and helped cleanup from flooding and tornadoes in Illinois.
