BANK ROBBERY: Police Get The Wrong Man

Des Moines police say a man taken into custody Wednesday night in the parking lot of the Altoona Walmart was not the man who robbed a bank earlier in the day.

Officials say the description of a possible suspect vehicle in the robbery at a West Bank branch on Southwest 9th matched that of the man who was pulled over.

Initially the man who was pulled over refused to get out of the truck but then exited with a self-inflicted injury to the neck. He was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries and later released to Des Moines police.

Police now say the man had a legitimate reason to be in the area of the West Bank Wednesday and is not a suspect in the robbery.

Cop’s mistake? Sounds like a citizen gave out some bad information, kinda hard to blame the cop’s here when a citizen said it was the guy..

If Altoona police were in on the arrest…….you know its going to be false…..they hardly ever investigate…just false arrest people. Tell me the last case that they solved? How many lawsuit they have? Not a good ran police dept….BEWARE.
