Hundreds of Iowa State University student will graduate this weekend in Ames. Officials say it’s the first time the list of fall semester degree recipients tops 1,800.

Commencement is set for Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Hilton Coliseum.

During ceremonies, Iowa State will also award an Honorary Doctor of Science degree to Iowa-native and NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson.

Whitson spent a total of 377 days aboard the International Space Station. That’s the longest ever for a woman.
