Monday, the Animal Rescue League is contacting those selected to adopt a gunman’s pets.

Steven Vogel fired nearly 100 rounds at cars, homes, and police in Des Moines on December 4th. Officers fired back, killing Vogel.

After searching his home, authorities discovered 55-birds, four cats and a python. Vogel’s family took six of the birds and two cats and the rest of the animals went to the ARL.

Hundreds applied to adopt the pets and the ARL will finish up notifying those who were selected by 7:00 p.m. Monday. They will have 24-hours to pick up their new pets.
