Des Moines’ city manager is leaving his job after 40 years working for the city.

The Des Moines Register reports Rick Clark is resigning. Clark will move with his wife who took a new job in Cleveland.

Clark started at an associate city planner back in 1973 and rose through the ranks of city administration taking over the manager’s job in 2006.

Clark hasn’t decided what his last day will be and no one from the city has said when or where the search for his replacement will begin.
