Shortly after the clock struck midnight, a Norwalk family rang in 2014 welcoming the newest edition to their family.
Christine and Lance Eddie are having a great start to the New Year.
Their son, Nash David was born at 12:17 a.m. making him the first baby of 2014.
Although they didn't expect it to happen like it did.
“To get the call at work that we`re going to the hospital was pretty crazy,” says Lance Eddie.
Lance said he picked up his wife at their home in Norwalk and headed to Methodist Hospital.
“When you`re actually at the hospital and it`s real, it was a little scary the unknown but exciting at the same time,” says Christine Eddie.
After 11 hours of labor, doctors took Christine back for a C-section at 11:30 p.m.
“As we`re walking back to the operating room last night for the C-section everyone`s saying Happy New Year, it was very different. You don`t anticipate your New Year`s Eve at the hospital but what a great little gift we got,” says Christine Eddie.
Nash surprised everyone and decided to make his arrival nearly three weeks early.
“Who isn't excited to have the baby a little bit before the due date as long as it`s healthy that`s the way we thought of it,” says Lance Eddie.
Nash weighed in at 5 pounds 3 ounces and is 19 inches long.
Lance said it is hard to describe how amazing it was seeing his son being born.
“You have no idea really what it`s like until it hits you. You start crying and you don`t know where the emotion comes from and it just comes out and it`s the most unreal feeling in the world, so natural and you`re just so proud of your wife for being so selfless and such a tough cookie. It`s the best thing in the world, it really is,” says Lance Eddie.
The Eddie's decided to wait until their delivery to find out if they were having a boy or a girl.
Since Nash was born a little premature, he will spend a few days in the NICU to be monitored but otherwise both Mom and baby are happy and healthy.
