The Iowa Department of Transportation is asking for the public’s input on a potential bridge replacement project in Polk County.

The DOT is considering replacing the bridge on Beaver Drive over Interstate 35-80 and Beaver Creek. The bridge would be closed for about eight months.

Traffic on Beaver Drive would be re-routed using Johnston Drive, Merle Hay Road, and Meredith Drive. Overnight traffic on I-35/80 may need to be detoured using Merle Hay Road, Douglas Avenue, and U.S. 69.

A public meeting is being held at Johnston’s City Hall on January 14th at 5:00 p.m. The address is 6221 Merle Hay Road.
