The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign in the Des Moines metro has passed the $1 million mark.
Through Tuesday the campaign generated just over $1,066,000. That’s 11-percent shy of the non-profit’s $1.2 million goal.
The Red Kettles were out until Christmas Eve and pulled in more than $400,000 this year. The rest of the money came in through mail, phone and online donations. Those donations are still accepted through this month.
The Salvation Army uses the money to fund multiple programs throughout the year.
