A WIND CHILL WARNING will be in effect for the entire state until noon on Tuesday. Wind chills are not expected to be above -20 any point today, with actual temperatures remaining below zero as well.
Early Monday morning, wind chills will be dangerously cold, with -35 to -45 in Des Moines, and -45 to -55 north of Highway 30. This will be the coldest air in the state since February of 1996. Besides frigid cold, flurries and blowing snow will occur at times.
The temperatures return to the 30s by Friday.
