COLD PETS: Animal Control Seizes Dogs Left Outside

This is an archived article and the information in the article may be outdated. Please look at the time stamp on the story to see when it was last updated.

The Animal Rescue League says animal control officers seized three dogs left out in the cold in Des Moines Monday.

The owners have been charged with misdemeanor animal neglect. They’ll be assigned a court date and will appear before a judge.

They can reclaim the pet if they pay the fees for impounding, boarding, rabies vaccines and licensing.

If they don’t reclaim their dogs, the pets will go into the adoption program.

Please follow up on this story. We are hopeful the dogs don’t go back to the owners and they get adopted by some other loving family. Do the dogs have frostbite? Are they starved and sick? Who are these inhumane, heartless people? If charged with animal cruelty, these people should get a mark on their driver’s license that prohibits them from ever owning any pet in the future. This is not a small, lack of education mistake; this is heartless. These horrible owners are beyond idiots, they have to be drug addicts or sociopaths. Hopefully these poor dogs never go back to these awful people.
